Nubianaires Bylaws & Commitment

Here, Nubianaires are expected to dress in a unified color, full-length Gala  gown and gloves.

 

Requirements for Prospective Nubianaires:

 

In order to qualify as a Nubianaire, a person must be ready to engage in a dignified fashion and prepared with a charity close to their hearts of which to raise funds. 

 

EACH Nubianaire: 

• Should complete a biographical sketch, which lists their  educational background, scholastic honors and awards, organization memberships, school activities, travels, favorite sports, special talents, hobbies, and any other information that would be useful for publicity purposes. 

• Must submit their  photo for publicity purposes as soon as possible to the Nubianaires Legacy Committee (NLC). In addition, the prospective Nubianaire may submit as many additional photos as they wish to appear in the local/community publications of their  choice. However, all publicity pertaining to the Gala  is done through the NLC’s Publicity Chairs.

• Must submit to the Photography Chair and the Program Book Chair, a formal, full-length portrait in their  Presentation gown. Photos will be organized by the Photography Chair. 

• Has the prerogative of selecting their  own escort. Relatives or friends may serve as escorts. If requested, the Gala Committee will assist in the selection of an escort. 

• As their  contribution to charity, is asked to obtain as many listings (ad contracts) as possible for the Program Book. The Program Book Chair will provide instructions. 

• Commit to the meeting schedule of one weekend a month for the social season and try to attend at least 1 of the other events hosted by the Nubianaire Legacy Committee.

At the Gala  and after the Presentation Ceremony, each Nubianaire will be given a basket of flowers to be offered to Gala  guests for donations, which will be used by the NLC for its numerous charities. The combined proceeds from this Charity Flowers Appeal and from the Program Book listings will determine which Nubianaire becomes the King or Queen of the Nubian Charm Gala . A portion of the cost of tables reserved by a Nubianaire’s family and friends will be included in the selection of the Royals and Runners-up.

The NLC insists that all Nubianaires being presented, to tag the Nubian Charms Enterprises media pages on any social media platforms.

Requirements for Parents

​

A Nubianaire Fee of $2,300 (Emerald Level Sponsorship) is required of each Nubianaire or from the parent(s) of each Nubianaire. This donation is given to the Nubianaires Legacy Society to cover costs associated with the Presentation. The Fee also covers the Nubianaire’s Gala ticket.

This Fee and other underwritten Nubian Charm Gala  expenses may be tax deductible to the extent allowed by the law. 

Parents are encouraged to have at least 10 – 12 guests at the Nubianaire’s table, including the Nubianaire, their  parent(s), and their  escort. It is a tradition that the Nubianaire’s parent(s) pay for the escort’s ticket. The parent(s) may also reserve as many additional tables as they wish for their relatives and friends who wish to be present at this memorable event. These tables are in the most advantageous location of the Gala room and are near the main table of the Nubianaire.

In preparation for every Nubian Charm Gala Presentation, the Nubian Charms Enterprises sponsors a series of Nubianaire Teas or other  events. The purpose of these events is to provide the prospective Nubianaire and her parent(s) the opportunity of meeting other prospective Nubianaires, their parent(s), and Gala  Committee members. During these events, we share information, suggestions, and enjoyable times. 

Parent-sponsored teas, brunches, and after-rehearsal parties are encouraged. A member of the Nubian Charm Gala  Committee (i.e., Chair, Co-Chair, and/or Publicity Chairs) should be included on the guest list. To uphold the prestige of the Gala  and the Nubianaires Legacy Committee, adequate adult supervision of underage participants is required.

Each Nubianaire is special to their  families and the NLC; however, they are also part of the group Presentation. Therefore, the NLC insists, in fairness to all Nubianaires being presented, to tag the Nubian Charms Enterprises media pages on any social media platforms.
